Welcome to the memorial page for

Christopher Mullins

March 20, 1998 ~ November 2, 2014 (age 16) 16 Years Old

On March 20, 1998, a happy baby named Christopher Capri Mullins was born to his parents, Consuela Holloway and Christopher Mullins, in Brooklyn, NY. He was a quiet baby, but very observant and alert. He was also an early achiever who learned how to walk, talk and write ahead of his peers.

A year after he was born, Christopher's family relocated to Newport News, Virginia. At Epes Elementary School Christopher excelled and won numerous awards, including the President's Education Award for outstanding academic achievement in 2009.

In a letter from the White House presented to Christopher with the award, President Barack Obama wrote: "By earning this honor, you have shown a deep personal commitment to educational excellence and I commend you for your hard work."

Other awards earned by Christopher included "Academic Stars" in 2009 and a certificate for his participation in the Male Empowerment Leadership Development Program at Epes Elementary.

Christopher continued through the Newport News school system, attending Passage Middle School, Denbigh High School and Enterprise Academy, where he was working toward an honors diploma that would have allowed him to graduate in June 2015. At Denbigh High, Christopher trained with the Patriots football team and nurtured a dream to eventually play in the NFL. He also played with the Tri-Citi Hurricanes Youth League.

Christopher's interests included basketball. He played on a team with the Denbigh Boys & Girls Club. He also enjoyed video games, especially NBA2K15, and hip-hop gospel music. Nicknamed Bubba, he was very well liked and well known in his community.

With his family, Christopher attended Calvary Chapel Newport News. He participated in the IGNITE Ministry, where he also developed a relationship with Jesus Christ. He departed from the loving arms of his family on November 2, 2014. It was much too soon for a charming young man who was so well loved and held so much promise.

In addition to his mother, many are left to mourn Christopher's loss, including his sisters Najiyyah, 18, and Amela, 2, and his brother Omari, 12. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Fredrick Bullard. Also left in sorrow are Grandmother Jessie Holloway, Grandma Edeline Mullins and Grandfather Anthony Mullins, all of Brooklyn; Aunts Tomesica Bright of Newport News, Ernestine Holloway of Connecticut, and Melissa Forbes, Cassara Mullins and Janice Mullins, all of Brooklyn; and Uncles Ernest Holloway of Newport News and Alexander Mullins of Brooklyn.

Christopher had numerous cousins, including first cousins Toshwanna Holloway, Ayesha Smalls, Artricia and Tanesha Bright, Qu-nanda Holloway, Shaunte Holloway; and second cousins Elijah Holloway, Esther & Dennis Holloway and Aubrey Holloway -- and at least one new member of the family who was added the same day as Christopher's passing. A host of other bereaved family members and friends remain.

A Mother's Love (to be added to the back of the printed program)

"I'm so, so sorry you were taken away from me so soon. I loved you in the good times as well as the bad times. You are my firstborn son and will always be. My love for you holds no boundaries because it's endless. Mommy will make sure love ashes touch everyone who you have let in your heart. You are no longer conformed of this world and I promise to set you free and let you soar and mount up like the wings on an eagle. Your loss will not go in vain. You have suffered for years, now let Mommy do the rest. Vengeance is not mine, it's the Lord, but justice will be served, even if it takes my last breath in me. I love you like no Mother could ever love anyone."

A viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m.Friday, November 14, 2014. At Calvary Chapel Church 361 Beechmont Dr. Newport News Va. Interment for family only will be private.

Please keep the family of Mr. Christopher C. Mullins in your prayers.
