Sergeant First Class (Retired) Dwight W. Tyler, a native of Newport News, Virginia, peacefully passed from this earthly realm to his heavenly home on Friday, June 19, 2020. He was a graduate of Warwick High School. Upon graduation, Dwight joined the United States Army . He was a dedicated serviceman and retired as Sergeant First Class, E-7, Master Mechanic, ASE Certified. He was formerly an usher at New Hope Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death was his father, Willie Tyler; mother, Rosetta D. Turner and brother, Richard L. Turner.
Left to celebrate and cherish his memory are his wife, Lillian Tyler; children, Latetia Tyler and Lakisha McGlothin (Kevin), Newport News, VA; siblings, Rev. Dr. Samuel Tyler (Andrea), Carolyn Green, Anthony Tyler, Willie Mae Rodriguez (Auturo), June Turner, Thomas Turner (Betty), Leon Turner (Yvette); grandchildren, Michael Doughty, LaShaun Doughty, Joseph Doughty, Xavier McGlothin, Makenna McGlothin and Jacen McGlothin; two special nieces, LuLa Leonard and Mary Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Viewing for Mr. Tyler will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m Friday, June 26, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
Services with military honors are scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia 23666.
Disposition for Mr. Tyler will remain private for the family.
