( Ret.) Tech Sergeant Edward Brinkley III Obituary

Edward Isaac Jerome Brinkley III entered eternal rest Wednesday January 27, 2021.

Edward’s story began in Sunbury, NC with his birth to the late Edward & Neppie Brinkley, on Thursday, August 1, 1946. Edward attended Central High School up until his graduation in 1964. Edward was a proud serving member of the United States Air Force, where he retired with honors for his 20+ years of service.

 

After his retirement from the USAF, Edward committed himself to a new 20+ year venture with Howmet Corporation that lasted until his retirement in 2005. Edward then began to enjoy retirement life, spending his days tinkering on his Camaro, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Edward loved his family very much and always stressed the importance of strength of family, he would often speak of his special relationships he shared with his loving nieces Kim and Shytist. Edward would say “In life’s adventure you will come across many friends and foes. Please remember me as a friend.”

 

Edward is survived by his son Jerome Brinkley, and grandson Amenadiel Brinkley. Two brothers; Robert Brinkley of Portsmouth VA, Dwight Brinkley (Alicia) of Jacksonville, FL. Three sisters; Rachel Hinton of Belvidere, NC, Clarice Wilson (Vernon) of Portsmouth, VA, and Krista Brinkley of Portsmouth, VA. A loving ex-wife Vanessa Brinkley, 2 loving ex-sister in - laws; Joyce and Shirley Brinkley, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

A Graveside Memorial Service with Military Honors is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Virginia.

 

It is the desire of the Brinkley family that you would keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
