Pastor Willie Gordon Dickerson gained his heavenly wings on Saturday afternoon, August 16th 2025. The oldest of eight children born to Gordon C. Dickerson and Nannie Ballou Dickerson on March 8, 1942 in Richmond, VA.
Pastor Dickerson attended the Richmond Public Schools. After graduating high school he joined the U.S. Air Force. He later continued his education and received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the North Carolina College of Theology. At an early age he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Richmond, VA where he served in several capacities. After joining the Air Force he married his life time love, Annie P. Manley Dickerson.
From this union they were blessed with three children. After several military assignments they settled in Hampton, VA. Shortly thereafter, they joined Third Baptist Church in Hampton where he served in several capacities, including Usher, Trustee, Deacon, Finance, Chairman and Associate Minister. Pastor Dickerson retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after fourteen years of service. A few years after he was called into the ministry,
Pastor Dickerson was called to Pastor Union Zion Baptist Church in Gloucester VA. He served Union Zion faithfully until a couple of weeks ago until he couldn't hold out any longer. He served at Union Zion Baptist Church for over 22 years. He also served in many capacities in the community. Pastor Dickerson was a devoted husband and father who took seriously his commitment to provide for his family.
He loved his family and his church family, but most of all
he loved the Lord. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, one brother, and two nephews.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 63 beautiful years, Annie; his children, Steven Dickerson (Nicole) of Dickinson Texas, Kimberly Dickerson (Kelly) and Jeremy Dickerson (Faith) of Newport News, VA; Nine grandchildren, Rahsaan (Channelle), Isaac, Andre, Donte, Jeremy, Karlyse, Bryson, Riley, and Bailey; One great grandchild Kaiya; three sisters Joeann Johnson and Stella Dickerson of Richmond VA, Rosa Coppage of Silver Springs, MD, one sister-in-law Joyce Churchwell of Newport News, VA and one brother-in-law Joe C. Manley (Edith) of Philadelphia, PA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Military honors for Pastor Dickerson, will be held at the Church.
