Overseer JoAnn Anderson Obituary

Overseer Pastor JoAnn (Jones) Anderson was born August 26, 1945 in Millington, Tennessee. JoAnn Anderson was the first born of seven children to the late Willie and Mary Jones.

Pastor Anderson received Christ at an early age. She had many hobbies which included baking; playing softball, knitting, singing, being a nail tech along with many others but serving God has always been her passion. As her favorite saying goes “She Loved Her Some Jesus”.

Pastor Anderson attended E.A. Harrold School in Millington, Tennessee and Mott College in Flint, Michigan. She was also a graduate of the Flint Bible College and The United Theological Seminary of Flint, Michigan. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Theology.

Pastor Anderson was a resident of Flint, Michigan for over 28 years before relocating to Hampton, Virginia. While in Flint, Michigan she was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church under the Leadership of the Late Bishop Odis A. Floyd. She also taught Sunday school and youth bible study. She was an outstanding soloist with the New Jerusalem Inspirational Voices. The choir was blessed to have many hit albums where Pastor Anderson was the lead soloist. These were wonderful years for her and the choir on the Savoy Label under the Late Reverend James Cleveland.

In 1987 she founded and organized New Livingwell Bible Church. God promised her that New Livingwell Bible Church would not only be like a well of living water flowing out of their bellies, but New Livingwell would also live well. She was also the co-founder of the New Livingwell Worship Center in January of 2007.

Pastor Anderson was honored to serve on the Fellowship Assistance Council as an Elder with Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship under Bishop Paul S. Morton. In 2004 Pastor Anderson was appointed District Overseer over the Tidewater District.

Pastor Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, brother and nephew. She leaves to cherish her memory Two Children: Phyllis Williams of Flint, Michigan and Christopher (Sharon) Jones of Hampton, Virginia; Two Brothers: Robert (Bill) Jones of Flint, Michigan and Mike (Sharon) Jones of Norfolk, Michigan; Three Sisters: Ella (Robert) Bondon of Flint, Michigan, Carrie (Clyde) Chaney of Flint, Michigan and Shelia Jones of Millington, Tennessee; One Step-Sister Louise Moore of Memphis, Tennessee; One Aunt Ms Anna Johnson of DeQueen, Arkansas; One God-Brother Timothy Broome; Six Grandchildren: Eric Jr., Christopher Jr., Latoya, Erica, Kristie, Arran and Malik; Seven Great Grandchildren.
