In Loving Memory of Terry Hudson
September 20, 1963 – April 26, 2025
With love in our hearts and gratitude for a life filled with warmth and grace, we celebrate the legacy of Terry Hudson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Terry peacefully entered eternal rest on April 26, 2025, at the age of 61. She was born on September 20, 1963, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Ernestine Vaughn and Edward Kendall.
Terry was educated in the Newport News Public Schools and attended Warwick High School. She was beloved for her radiant smile, vibrant personality, and joyful spirit. Terry had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, heard, and deeply valued. Her laughter could brighten any room, and her compassion left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She found her greatest joy in her family. Terry was a devoted and loving mother to her two daughters, Nicole Heard (Carlos Heard) and Tory Watkins (Nathaniel Watkins), and a proud and nurturing grandmother to Dallas Kendall, Brooklynn Harvey-Kendall, Nathaniel Watkins, and Nori Watkins. Her loyal and beloved dog, Red, remained faithfully by her side and brought her daily joy.
Terry is survived by her loving siblings: Bobby Barner (Janet), Stachia Randall (Donald), and Lloyd Barner. She was preceded in death by her parents and her dear brother, Clarence Barner.
She was a devoted aunt, leaving behind many nieces and nephews who adored her, including: Trina Turner (Steve), Antoinette Barner-Griffin, Clarence Barner Jr., Shannon Stevens, Effrem Barner, Anita Barner, Lynn Mason, and a host of additional beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Terry’s heart extended far beyond her immediate family. She deeply cherished the bonds she built with her 17th Street Crew and her Pinecroft Family, who remained close companions throughout her life.
Terry loved to sing, dance, and simply celebrate life. She had a flair for bringing people together and a soul that radiated joy. Whether laughing with her grandchildren, spending time with her daughters, or catching up with friends, Terry embraced every moment with purpose and passion. She was always eager to help others and gave of herself freely with kindness, love, and humility.
Her vibrant energy, generous heart, and powerful presence leave a lasting impact. Though she is no longer with us in body, Terry’s spirit lives on through the lives she touched. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and grace.
"Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure."
Rest peacefully, Terry. You will always be remembered.
It is the desire of the Hudson/Heard families that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
