Ms. Sylvia Maxine Watson, affectionately known by many as “NaNa”, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Virginia. Sylvia was born to the late Pete and Susie Watson, on April 14, 1949, in Newport News, VA.
She was from the neighborhood area known as “The Creek” in Newport News, Virginia. Sylvia was a graduate of Huntington High School, Class of 1967, in Newport News, Virginia. Sylvia retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding, as a Clerical Secretary II, with the Purchasing Department.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Susie Watson, her brother, Calvin B. Watson and grandmother, Beatrice Hobbs. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Catrina Smith and Yolanda Small, both of Newport News, Virginia; one sister, Dorothy Moore (Billy Sr.) of Suffolk, Virginia, One sister-in-law, Cheryle Watson of Newport News, VA, eight grandchildren, 13 great grands, and her first great-great grandchild arriving later this year, and a host of foster children, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
It is the desire of the Watson family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
The family of Ms. Sylvia M. Watson has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
