Ms. Samantha S. Ashlock

Some people only walk this earth for a short time. However, their departure just means that you've gained an angel over you. On Sunday October 29, 2023, Samantha Samone "Sam" Ashlock became that angel for us. Samantha's life began in Newport News, Va on July 1,1969. She was born to the late Barbara Jean "Bunny" Frost Lloyd and late James Franklin "Jimmy" "Scar belly" Ashlock. Samantha attended Warwick High School until 1987 when she gave birth to her eldest daughter Inga Ashlock. Then in 1991 Samantha gave birth to only son Brandon Ashlock. Also, in 1993 Samantha gave birth to her baby girl Laqueeta Ashlock which she called her "Ruby Girl". Samantha worked many years in our local shipyards until she had to retire early due to an injury. Samantha had a soft spot for those in need or anyone who was just plain lonely. If you were down in the dumps when you came around her it was a guaranteed Sam was going to have you laughing and happy before you left. Samantha had an uplifting compassionate spirit. Those of us who knew Samantha we know she loved to cook. Sam made the world's best cornbread. Yes, she accomplished many other things, but the quality of her cornbread cannot be overstated. Although she didn't have a church home, she loved the Lord, had faith, beliefs and accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior. Samantha was the youngest of 5 children, she loved and was loved by all her siblings.

Samantha leaves to cherish her memories her 3 children Inga Ashlock (Lanika) of Newport News, Va, Brandon Ashlock of Newport News, Va, and Laqueeta Ashlock of Hampton, Va. Samantha leaves her 2 sisters Reamona "LeeLee" Lloyd-Paige of Newport News, Va and Cassandra "Sandi" Ashlock of Newport News, Va her 2 brothers William "Stevie" Frost of Virginia and Mario Brown of Newport News, Va. 6 grandchildren Zakia, Mikeal, Xavier, Ava, Jaqual, and Serenity 1 great grandson King 2 nieces Erica and Ciera 1 nephew Darreck 1 great niece Miyae' and a host of cousins and her road dog her ace boon coon her best friend of more than 30 years Vida Williams. Services will be held at CC Carter Funeral Home 3700 Marshall Ave Newport News, VA at 11am and the repass will be at 1pm at Devine Venue 4201 Madison Ave Newport News, VAMs.
