Ms. Rose McClark Obituary

We pause to remember our devoted Mother and Grandmother who departed this life on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, Retreat Hospital, Richmond Va.

She was born on December 2, 1947 in Newport News, VA.  She was the youngest child of the late Elnora and Henry Lee Alexander McClark, Sr.  Preceding her in death is her brother, Henry Lee Alexander McClark, Jr.

She accepted Christ at an early age.  Rose knew that her time was coming near and did not question it.  She was ready and had accepted God invention to come home.

Shortly after high school, she relocated to Washington D.C to start her career with the Government. She was employed as a Secretary for the United States Government for about 40 years servicing Washington, D.C., Germantown, MD and Ft. Monroe, VA area.

Rose was a devoted mother to Danielle “Dee Dee” and an awesome grandmother to DeVante’ “Von” whom they both love and cherish her very much. She was also a devoted friend to many, more than can be counted on her hands and feet.

Rose was caring and always made sure that everyone was taken care of, that no one went without.  She loved and enjoyed watching the kids, so that the parents could have a little time to enjoy life.  Bowling was her outlet.  She was on numerous bowling leagues at one time over a 40+ year span. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling with her Maryland crew, going on cruises to different islands, Jazz and Essence Festivals, and many other events.  She would make it her business to go every year, until it became too much for her to travel.  She moved  back to Virginia in 1986, where she met new (and some old)  friends, in which they played cards, bingo and keno until the wee hours of the morning.  She was an avid football and tennis fan.  No matter how bad or good, the Redskins were, she was a die-hard fan.  She went to the Super Bowls parades (in the rain)  and had season tickets for many years.  Although she loved football, if the games were not interesting and tennis was on, she would change the station, especially if Serena and Venus was playing.

Rose leaves to cherish precious memories her loving daughter, Danielle R McClark and grandson, DeVante’ M McClark.  A host of cousins and close friends.
