Ms. Regina “GiGi/Scooter” Desiree Hayward, daughter of Mr. John Hayward and the late Mrs. Barbara Hudgins Hayward was born on August 7, 1969 in Nurnberg, Germany. Regina’s parents dedicated her through baptism as an infant in Germany which was her initial experience to her faith. Later this experience resulting in her profession of her faith in Jesus Christ. Regina departed way too soon for many of us, however she answered when her name was called; God needed her more on May 13, 2021.
Regina graduated from Aquinas High School in New York then she relocated to Hampton, Virginia to begin her advance studies at Hampton University (HU) in 1987 majoring in Social Work. She later graduated from Norfolk State University with both a BSW (2003) and a MSW (2007). Regina’s career in Social Work began long before she was employed by the Hampton/Newport News Community Services Board (affectionately known as “The C.S.B”). Regina was a loving, compassionate, organized, and analytical who would advocate for herself, loved ones and anyone she knew needed a voice. Having a career in Social Work she knew she could use those attributes and skills to help those who were in need
Regina loved all genres of music, travelling, attending Bible Study where she could ask questions, Sunday Worship Service. Her ultimate passion was cooking/baking, not only for herself, but for others. With the help of her BFF, she decided to “sell” her delights and come up with a name that she loved: “Dez’s Tasty Delights.” She prided herself on ensuring every ingredient was mixed with love.
Regina is proceeded in death by her “mommy,” Mrs. Barbara Hudgins Hayward; her aunt, Estelle Neal; her grandparents, Austin and Betty Cross. Regina is survived by her father, John Hayward of Aberdeen, Maryland; one half-sister, Angela Hayward; a half-brother, Arron Hayward. She leaves behind a beloved uncle; numerous cousins, relatives and a host of close friends who were just like family.
“Job well done faithful servant”. Rest easy until we all meet again, your beloved family.
