Ms. Minieola Oaks

Ms .Minnie Ola (Mineola) Oaks was born in Sumter, South Carolina 12/20/1940, one of nine children to the late Grover C and Margaret C Oaks. She entered into eternal rest on January __ 2023. Proceeded in death parents, brothers Marion, Haskell, Theodore, William and Douglas Oaks. Sisters Mabel Capers, Sydnie Atkins, Ruth Reid and Mary Johnson. Mineola attended and graduated from Ebenezer High School in Dalzell, South Carolina. She received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Dalzell, South Carolina. 

 After graduation, Mineola moved to New York where she remained, working at Bell Atlantic Telephone Company, which later became known today as Verizon. She started as a 411 operator and was promoted throughout the company, until she retired as a Chief Supervisor operator. 

 Mineola loved life and traveling. She often returned to South Carolina and many other places she visited, although she was not a fan of flying on an airplane. That however did not stop her from spreading her own wings and enjoying life. 

 She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother Grover Oaks, two sisters Margaret Loretta Reid and Shirley Oaks, all reside in Newport News, Virginia. One godson Kevin China of Hillside, New Jersey. Lifelong friend Estelle China of Hillside, New Jersey and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

It is the desire of the Oaks family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
