Martha Ann Neville peacefully departed this life on March 23, 2026. Martha Ann Neville was born on January 26, 1951, to Walter A. Neville and Lillie Neville Johnson in North Carolina. She was a product of the Newport News school system and obtained an associate degree in Child Development from Virginia Peninsula Community College (formerly titled Thomas Nelson Community College).
In her lifetime, Martha never saw an opportunity for adventure that was too big for her britches. Given the nickname, Coffee, she had a charm that drew people in and a warmth that made her unforgettable. For many years Martha traveled throughout the U.S, then returned to Newport News as a working chef.
Martha especially loved time curled up with a book, sitting on her front porch, or listening to R&B soul classics or her favorite, Elvis Presley. In her later stage of life, Martha was diagnosed with cancer before successfully entering remission. Her life was a testament to quiet strength and love for those around her. Our sorrow in her passing can be tempered by the knowledge that she lived authentically and on her terms, sharing her love with us along the way.
Martha is survived by her 4 children to include 2 daughters and 2 sons - Crystal Neville Clark (David), Techitia Neville-Sharp, Dewayne Neville (Jamaria), and Paolo Neville. She is also survived by her siblings – Barbara Neville, Evelyn Neville, Phyllis Moran (Clarence), Mary Neville, Hilda Neville, Paris Neville (Monica), and Kim Johnson; and a host of grandchildren and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Neville, and her parents, Walter Neville and Lillie Neville Johnson.
It is the desire of the Neville family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
