Margaret Frances Spragan, 96, of Newport News, Virginia, surrendered her spirit to be with the Lord on February 8, 2020.
She was born to parents Morris and Katie White, on 05/04/1923 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Margaret met and later married Willard Spragan, Sr., on August 31, 1942 in Danville, Virginia. The union between Margaret and Willard produced 4 children two children proceeded her in death, Sheila and Mark Ashley Spragan. Later in life Margaret was blessed with raising another son, Jerry G. White also deceased. Margaret was the oldest of seven (7) children, she had the burden of burying all her siblings: Floyd White, Jerry Lee White, Catherine Moore, Mary Helen Lawson, Ralph David White and Louise Lassiter.
Margaret had many different jobs; she ended up retiring as a packer from Clark's Transfer & Storage in 1985.
She enjoyed Grocery Shopping, Gardening, Canning, and Cooking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Margaret is survived by Son Willard Jr (Roxanne) of Ooltewah, Tennessee; Daughter Carol Spragan of Newport News, Virginia; Lillian (Lang) Spragan special daughter of Alexandria, Virginia; Jesse Bradley grandson of Hampton, Virginia; DeNeen Draughan granddaughter (Jerry) of Hampton, Virginia; Shawn Spragan grandson of Alexandria, Virginia; Candice Prichard granddaughter (Michael) of Acworth, Georgia; Ameka Blano granddaughter (DaRon) of Maryland; Eboni Lackyer granddaughter (Greg) of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; Mark Spragan Jr. grandson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Krista Patterson granddaughter (Joshua) of Lexington Park, Maryland; and Michael W. Spragan grandson of Nashville Tennessee. Margaret also cherished her 14 Grand Children, 28 Great Grand Children, a Host of Nieces, Nephews and Friends. Shirley Spragan, special friend (Wife in Law), of Hyattsville, Maryland, Kimberly Reece, and Queilene Brown.
Viewing for Ms. Spragan will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
Services will be held noon Friday, February 14, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road Hampton, Virginia by Minister Otis Carl Moore.
Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
A repast will follow interment at New Hope Baptist Church.
