Ms. Lynne Adams

Lynne (Elaine) Adams (nee. Harvey) age 69, of Newport News, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 18, 2026, at the Regency Health & Rehab Center in Yorktown, VA, after a long illness.

Lynne was born in Hartford Ct, on Wednesday August 29, 1956, daughter to the late Lindsey Harvey and Jessie Harvey.

She attended Bracket North East Elementary and graduated from Hartford High School in 1974.  Lynne attended Delaware State University for a year, then continued her education at Manchester Community College in Connecticut where she received her Associated Degree in Accounting.  Later in life she furthered her education at the Virginia Peninsula Community College.

Lynne’s early career started as a receptionist/secretary at Hartford Hospital; she also moonlighted at Traveler’s Insurance Company as a cafeteria staff member.  After receiving her Accounting Degree, she became a Realtor/Loan Officer at McCue Mortgage Co. and later at Prudential Realty Co.; she helped many first-time homeowners in the Hartford, Bloomfield, and Windsor areas achieve their dream of owning a home.  When Lynne moved to Virgina she worked as a receptionist/secretary at the Medical Facility at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia until her retirement in 2023.

Lynne was a fabulous Chef; her passion was cooking and entertaining.  She had a very popular side hustle cooking on the weekends.  She would cater parties, cookouts or have folks come over and pick up a plate on Blue Hills Ave.  (Y’all Remember!!)

Lynne was a social butterfly, bringing everyone together to enjoy her hospitality and good food, she also liked watching old movies and reading.

In addition to her parents, Lynne is preceded in death by her husband; Nemlon L. Adams Jr, her Uncle Louis “Joe” Hunter Sr., Aunt Anna Hunter, and dear friend Toni Williams.

She leaves behind an abundance of cherished memories by family; a Stepbrother, Frankie Harvey; Sister-in-Law Patricia Adams of Hartford Ct; a devoted cousin Louis Hunter Jr and wife, Pamela, 2 God Children; Jessica and Daniel Hunter and families; all from Texas, cousins’ Debbie, Ricky and Karen Blassingame, and a lifelong friend; Finitia Armstrong of Atlanta, Ga; and a host of other family members, friends, and acquaintances; and her faithful dog, Taz.

It is the desire of the Adams / Hunter families  that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The family of Ms. Lynne Adams has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
