Ms. Lorene Marable-Safavinia Obituary

Lorene Virginia Marable-Safavinia was born to the late Matthew Marable and Sarah Marable on February 3, 1948, and she entered eternal rest on November 19, 2021. Lorene was the second child of ten children.  Those who knew Lorene knew that she valued higher education, just ask her nieces and nephews.  She graduated from South Dade Senior High School in Miami-Dade County, Florida. She earned her degree in Business Administration from Norfolk State College (now known as Norfolk State University). She was such a proud graduate that she continued her journey and served her beloved alma mater as the Coordinator of International Admissions where she devoted many years until her retirement.

Rene was a long-time active member of the First Baptist Church of Hampton. She contributed much of her time to various ministries in the church including the Christian Fellowship Choir, Gospel Choir, Mass Choir, Women’s Day Choir, Christillion Ministry, Drama Ministry, College Sunday Ministry and Sunday School Ministry. She also served  as a Walking Trustee and was  an avid advocate for the youth.

Rene was a loving daughter, mother, sister, and bonus mom to all her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews as well as anyone that she encountered. She truly demonstrated her belief in instilling the love of Christ in her family and to all who knew her while encouraging everyone to be better people and achieve their full potential.

“Their extremity is my opportunity” are words that she lived by. Therefore, it is no surprise that she generously contributed to a multitude of charitable organizations to include the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Angel Tree program, Leukemia Foundation, National Breast Cancer Foundation, and Planned Parenthood.  Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant” resonates with her spirit. She emulated the spirit of servitude in all aspects of her life. She demonstrated her love of God, family, and people every moment she could. She is remembered for her personification of love and compassion.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Parisa Safavinia, and her dad, Matthew Marable. She is survived by her mother, Sarah Marable, and siblings James Marable (Evelyn), Maxine Gibbs, Evelyn Walker (John), Alfred Marable (Michelle), Dorothy Harris (Curtis), Wanda Carrington, Barbara Faison (Ervin Jr), Victor Marable, Matthew Marable Jr., and Eric Marable. She also leaves a host of family and friends to cherish her beautiful memories.
