Lizzie O. Artis was born on March 29, 1929 to the late Elzina Roberts and the late Jesse Warren. She transitioned peacefully at her residence on Tuesday January 9, 2024. She was predeceased by one brother Leander Warren, and one sister Viola Curry.
Lizzie was educated in South Hampton & Isle of Wight County school systems. Lizzie retired from Reservoir Elementary school where she served as the head cook for over 30 years. She was an excellent cook known for her famous potato salad and fried chicken.
Lizzie loved the lord as she was a member of Greater Walter's AME Zion Church of Newport News, VA for many years. She later attended First Baptist Church Denbigh where she continued to grow in God. Lizzie was married to the love of her life the late Otis Artis for over 50 years. Lizzie loved people and her family deeply. She touched all of those that came in contact with her. Her kind words, warm smile, and acts of love will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three devoted sons Keith Artis, Darryl Artis Sr., and Dwayne Artis Sr. Nine Grandchildren Darryl Artis II, Tria Eley(Pastor Emmanuel), Chavon Jackson, Minister Dwayne Artis II, Dante Artis ( Nelly), Jasmine Artis, and Karl Rainey(Pam); Twelve Great Grandchildren, and two great-great Grandchildren. Four brothers Johnny Warren (Irene), Emit Warren, Samuel Warren, and Oliver Warren(Maryann). Two sisters Beatrice Whitney and Catherine Harris, and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and love ones.

The family of Ms. Lizzie Artis has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
