Ms. Gloria Patton, 73, transitioned unexpectedly on May 10, 2022, at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. She was born on January 7, 1949, in North Carolina.
Gloria relocated to Newport News in her early teens and graduated from Huntington High School Class of 1966. In her pursuit of a better life for her and her three sons, Gloria worked diligently, holding jobs such as Security with Wackenhut Security Company, Dairy Queen of York County, and Dispatcher at Hop's Cab Company, where she found her passion was inspired to pursue her taxi service. As her health began to fail, Gloria still wasn't finished. Her zest for life and for being amongst people led her to work at Soap N Suds in Newport News.
Gloria was a mother to many. She never met a stranger. One of the most lovable people you'd ever want to meet, she was very well known in the community. She was that honest, straightforward, no-nonsense person to all, whether you were her family or her friend. Straight talk, no chaser. Her beautiful smile and contagious laugh have lit many rooms, as she loved social gatherings. Being with family and friends was a one of her favorite things. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her a wealth of joy. She also enjoyed playing cards and her frequent trips to the casino. Gloria had such a sweet soul, and all that had the opportunity to meet her loved her.
Left cherishing her beautiful memory are her three sons: James Edward Patton Jr. (Shannon “Beth”), Eric Patton, and Shaun Patton (Christina). Grandchildren: Ciara Patton, Alissha Patton, Eric-James Patton, Tristan Patton, Armani Fee, and Samara Patton. Great-grandchildren: Kaninah Faulks, Harper Robinson, and Jeriah Rossman, and a host of extended family and friends.
It is the desire of the Patton family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
The family of Ms. Gloria Patton has entrusted her final care to C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
