Ms. Gloria Lucinda Washington Cooper, a member of Queen Street Baptist Church, Hampton, Virginia for 60 plus years, transitioned on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Coliseum Park Nursing Center, Hampton, Virginia..
Gloria was born in Newport News, Virginia on February 1, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Willie Washington and Elizabeth Perley Washington.
Gloria was educated in Newport News Public Schools and worked and retired from the Hampton Public School System.
At an early age she gave her life to Christ and joined Queen Street Baptist Church in 1956. She served faithfully in several ministries of the church. She was a member of the Baptist Young Women’s Ministry, attended Sunday School, worked on the Hospitality Committee and sang in the church choirs.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her sister, Brenda Morgan, and grandson, Jason A. Edwards, Jr. (Baby J.)
Gloria was a loving, devoted daughter and mother, a dedicated and nurturing grandmother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend. Left to cherish her memory are one devoted daughter, Renea Cooper Edwards (Jason), (Houston, TX, and five loving sons: Antonio D. Cooper (Clovia), Major Cooper, III, Keith A. Cooper, Darryl A. Cooper (Rosalind), and Derrick A. Cooper, eighteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Katie B. Goodson, special friend Myrtle Martin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Gloria was often referred to as being a kind-hearted, nice, loving person. She loved her family, relatives, friends and her church.
Viewing for Ms. Cooper will be held from 2:00p.m.until 5:00p.m. Thursday September 24. 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home. Inc.
Graveside services for Ms. Cooper will be held noon Friday, September 25, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
