Ms. Geneva Mills Obituary

To Everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven Eccles. 3:1

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, our beloved Geneva peacefully entered into eternal rest. Her journey began here on earth on January 12, 1935, when she was born to the late David and Georgia Philyaw in Treutlen County, Georgia.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Paul Mills on December 9, 1955, and to this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Paula Mills.  She was devoted to her husband of over 50 years, and she took care of him as his health began to decline.

She accepted Christ at an early age.  She was educated in the Treutlen County School System. Genevia was employed by the Miami, Florida, school system and retired after 30 years of service.

Geneva was an active participant in church activities and served faithfully until her health declined.  She loved flowers, and her yard was full of different varieties and colors. She was an avid shopper.  She loved to cook, and her homemade BBQ sauce was unmatched.  She was a baker by trade, and coming to her house was like going to your own private bakery. She had a soft heart, and she cared deeply. Whenever there was an injustice, her tears became her prayers.  She was a loving and giving person. Anyone in need could have anything she had.  In her later years, she moved to Virginia to live with her daughter, making even more memories with her family.  She loved playing BINGO with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and lighting up their days with her smile.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Mills; her grandson, Raymun Garner; her brother, Dean Philyaw; and her sister, Christine Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted daughter, Paula Mills, her granddaughter, Shayna Garner, her grandson, Micah Garner, Jr., her great-grandchildren, Isaiah Garner, Noah Garner, Brylin Garner, and Moriya Taylor. Her sister, Lela Thomas, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.  She greatly loved ALL of her family and friends

It is the desire of the Mills family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The family of Ms. Geneva Mills has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
