Ms. Doris Stith

Ms. Doris Louise Alston Stith was born on Sunday, March 26, 1939, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina to the late Doc Alston and Helen Cox Alston.  On  October 24, 2020 she made a glorious transition into the presence of The Lord. Preceding her death after her parents, sibling Betty Alston Johnson Spruill;  grandson Tyron L. Stith; and nephews Alfred  L. Johnson and Larry C. Johnson.

Doris was educated in Newport News Public School System where she attended Huntington High School.  After high school she married the late Raymond L. Stith and from this union were five children, Sherrie L. Johnson (Ronnie), Sheila L. Stith, Sandra L. Stith, Raymond L. Stith Jr. wife, Judy M. Stith and Shirley L. Brown husband, Robert M. Brown Jr.

Doris retired from Martin’s Seafood after more than twenty years of dedicated service. At a early age she accepted Christ into her life and joined Antioch Baptist Church of Newport News, Virginia.  As a member she worked diligently with the Usher Board, Pastor Aid, Van and Culinary Ministry.  She volunteered her time going out in the community praying with the sick and shut in. Doris loved people and had an infectious smile, which made you happy just to be in her presence.

Viewing for Ms. Stith will be held from 1:00p.m. until 5:00p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020 at C.C.Carter Funeral Home, Inc. 

Services for Ms. Doris Stith will be held 1:00p.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church 1415 Big Bethel Rd. Hampton, VA. by Pastor William O. Green.

Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.  

The family of Ms. Doris Stith  has entrusted her final care to the staff of C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
