Ms. Cynthia Newby

On Friday, January 8, 2021 Cynthia Jean Newby was called home to be with her Lord and Savior.   She was born on August 4, 1936 to the late Junius and Plummie Ruth Newby in Newport News Virginia.  

She was a hardworking, diligent, and dedicated employee of The Garden at Warwick Forest Riverside Health System, formally Patrick Henry Nursing Facility for 36 years. She attended Huntington High School and a member of the class of 1954. 

Jean gave her life to Jesus Christ at an early age.  She was a former member of Ivy Baptist Church for over 20 years.  She loved the Lord with all her heart and was ready when He called her home. 

Affectionately known to many as “Aunt Jean” she was truly loved by everyone she met.  Cynthia Jean was a devoted andloving, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents Junius and PlummieRuth Newby and siblings, Sylvester Moore, Virgie Hinds, and Minnie Thornton.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Michella Cofield of Hampton VA and Phyllis Wilson of Newport News, VA., Three siblings, Katherine Hall of Manassas VA, Sandra Robinson of Newport News VA and Glen Newby of Hampton VA. Six (6) grandchildren, Damion Newby, Jontaz Newby, Dana Newby, William Cofield Jr., Colby Newby and PhylliciaCofield, (14) great grandchildren and six (6) great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Viewing for Ms. Newby will be held from 2:30;until 5:30p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 at C.C.Carter Funeral Home, Inc.  

Services for Ms. Newby will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church  1415 Big Bethel Rd. Hampton, VA. by Dr.  Christopher C.  Carter Sr., 

Interment will  follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
