Ms. Crystal Marable Obituary

Ms. Crystal Rinee Marable passed away peacefully at home on 13 January 2026 after fighting cancer with incredible strength and determination.  Up until the end Crystal maintained her kindness, grace, and compassion.

Born in White Plains NY on March 1st 1960, Crystal lived life courageously on her own terms and was the quintessential New Yorker.   She was passionate about her family, friends and guiding young people.

Crystal worked as an Executive Administrative Professional since 1993.  She was an Executive Administrator at the headquarters of MasterCard, Purdue Pharmaceutical, and The Walt Disney Company.  She earned her Certified Administrative Professional Certification from the International Association of Administrative Professionals in 2023.  She retired from Enterprise Academy (Newport News Public Schools) where she was respected for her dedication to the children and hard work.  Throughout her career, she approached every task with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with her.

In her free time, Crystal enjoyed listening to music, dancing, arts & crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.  She found solace and joy in the simple moments with her family and friends.  Crystal will be dearly missed by her beloved parents, Giles Hagood and Carolyn (Marable) Miller, her bonus Mom Thelma Hagood, her sisters Cheryl Mulrain (John Mulrain) and Denise Murray (Kenneth Murray) her brother Scott Franklin (D), her sons with former spouse Gerald Brown (D), Mashaun Brown and Joseph Brown, her bonus daughter Miana Brown, her grandchildren Nathaniel Brown, Ayanna Brown, Jonah Brown and Rayan Brown, extended family and friends.  She touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her love, candor, and fierce loyalty to family and friends.

She will be laid to rest in New York.

In lieu of flowers, Crystal requested donations be made to No Days Off Dads or the American Breast Cancer Foundation.

It is the desire of the Marable  / Brown  families that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
