Some lives move through the world like sunlight— quietly, steadily, warming everything they touch. Carolynn Jean Belpree‑Jackson was born on January 11, 1959, in Williamsburg, Virginia, to the late William Thomas Alexander Belpree and Sarah Wright Belpree. Carolynn Jean was that light.
A bright, loving, and inquisitive soul, Carolynn Jean developed an early passion for learning, especially in science and chemistry. Even as a young girl, she saw the world not just as it was, but as something to be understood, explored, and cherished. Carolynn Jean graduated from Walsingham Academy in 1977 and went on to attend Virginia State University, when her journey took her from Virginia’s familiar embrace to the wider skies of California, where she cared for her father, and her devotion spoke louder than words.
During her years in California, she worked as a secretary for First AME Church in Oakland and later for the Clorox Company. It was during this time that she welcomed her daughter, Alexandra. Carolynn Jean eventually returned to Virginia, where she entered into a union with the late Bernard K. Jackson. Together, they created a beautiful blended family with their children, Sharon, Kevin, Apryle, Alexandra, and Christiane.
Carolynn Jean lived with her whole heart. She poured herself into her home, into her community, into every soul who crossed her path. She served faithfully as one of Hampton’s Chief Election Officials and volunteered with joy and dedication. Known for her warmth, humor, and generous spirit, she brought light and laughter wherever she went. To know her was to feel loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sarah Belpree; her husband, Bernard K. Jackson; and several beloved aunts and uncles.
Carolyn Jean leaves to cherish her memory her children—Alexandra, Christiane, Sharon, Apryle, and Kevin; her grandchildren—Jaila, Kyrie, Endyiah, Isaiah, Gavin, Iyanna, Kalani, Jeremiah, Gisele, Tyrell Jr., Camille, and Mariah; her great‑granddaughter, Royanna; her uncle Samuel Wright (Brenda); and a host of cousins, lifelong friends, and extended family.
She was the kind of woman whose laughter could lift a room, whose kindness softened the edges of hard days, whose presence made others feel seen, held, and loved. A mother. A friend. A steady, joyful force.
Carolynn Jean will be remembered for her love, her strength, her service, and the joy she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in her family and in all whose lives were touched by her presence.
It is the desire of the Belpree-Jackson Dennis families that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
