Ms. Betty Taylor Obituary

On August 18, 1957 twin girls were born to Alonzo Sr. and Florell Jones. Betty Ann was born first and after a trip back to the delivery room Joann made her entrance. They were named after their nurse Betty and doctor Joseph. Their arrival brought much excitement to their siblings, as well as their older brother Cossie Sr. home on Marine military leave to assist with double diaper duty.

She was always eager to participate in a family game of kickball, baseball, or basketball. In fact, while at her cousin Henry’s picnic, in Long Island, NY, Betty with her siblings and cousin Billy competed against her future husband, Larry Sr. and his brothers in a very competitive game of basketball.

Although seemingly somewhat shy in her later years, be it known as valedictorian that Betty gave a speech to her high school graduation class. In addition, Betty didn’t cook much during her youth but after marriage and the growth of her own family, she developed her cuisine specialties, cheesecake, potato salad, pepper steak, jambalaya etc.
