Ms. Betty Munlin Obituary

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Betty Louise Fuller Munlin peacefully answered the Master’s call. Her life’s journey began on June 15, 1949, in Ruffin North Carolina.  She was the tenth of twelve children born to the late Mr. Joseph and Geraldine Fuller.

“Chi Chi” as she was affectionately called, attended Carver High School in Newport News, Virginia and later went on to join Job Corps.  At an early age she accepted Christ and became a member of New Beech Grove Baptist Church.  Chi Chi held various jobs as a cook, working at the Mess Hall on Fort Eustis for many years and later as a Home Health Care Aide which she truly enjoyed.

She had several hobbies which included going to yard sales, thrift stores, fishing and spending time with her sisters playing Bingo.  Often when she won, no matter how large or small the amount, she would share her winnings with others. She truly had a heart of gold.  While going to yard sales and thrift stores, she would purchase items to be resold, you could find her on any give Saturday, with her table set up with items she considered valuable.

Chi Chi mostly, loved to entertain and have family over for good food, music, dancing, telling jokes and making up stories, it was always a good time with lots of laughter.    She enjoyed taking trips to Danville Virginia to spend time with her family there.

In 1969 she joined in Holy Matrimony with the love of her life, Senior Chief Petty Officer James (Jimmy) Munlin, their union was blessed with 50 years of happiness. She was a devoted military spouse and was known for her unwavering support of her Husband’s service, she embraced the challenges of military life with grace and resilience, relocating across the country living in Jacksonville Florida, San Diego California and Puerto Rico before they retired back home in Newport News Virginia to be close to her family.   Although they had no children of her own, she was always there to help with her nieces and nephews.

She had a special place in her heart for her Nephew Antonio Fuller, whom she loved unconditionally. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  Her family find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her Husband andresting in the arms of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Joseph and Geraldine Fuller), her Loving Husband James (Jimmy) Munlin and six siblings: (Florice, Horace, Curtis, Joseph Jr, Ruth and Wallace) She leaves to cherish her memories to her siblings, brother Herman and sisters: Bessie, Dorothy, Marion and Brenda. Her special nephew Antonio Fuller. There are many nieces and nephews who loved Aunt Chi Chi dearly as well as a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.

It is the desire of the Munlin Family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
