Mrs. Valerie Best Obituary

Valerie Best transitioned from earth to eternity on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA.

Valerie was born July 1, 1955 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Vernon and Rosemary Sport. She was educated in the Boston public school system and was one of the first Blacks to attend a previously all white high school.  Although, subjected to daily prejudice and racist taunting, she graduated high school in 1973.  Valerie then graduated from Hampton Institute in 1977 with a BS degree in Early Childhood Education.  While at Hampton, Valerie was a cheerleader. It was there she met the love of her life for the past forty six years, Tyrome Best.

 

After a brief stint teaching, Valerie was employed as a flight attendant for eight years. During this time, Valerie and Ty were able to travel the world. Shortly after becoming a mother in 1987, Valerie left the corporate world and chose to work with her husband to develop and grow their networking business.

 

She was the owner and president of her own company for over thirty-three years. As the cofounder of Wealth Builders Worldwide, Valerie was recognized as a speaker, leader and trainer. Upon hearing of her death, the current company Valerie worked with (GSPARTNERS) posted a worldwide memorial and suspended all business for one hour.

 

Valerie was known for having the most pleasant voice and disposition She was a lover of people and very generous.  She was a believer in the goodness of people sometimes to a fault.  However, this did not diminish her desire to build communities of likeminded people dedicated to improving the lives of others.

 

In addition to being the author and publisher of five books, Valerie was an avid reader and could intelligently discuss almost any subject. She was an excellent seamstress and when younger, sewed many of her one of kind outfits.  Skilled with applying make-up and doing her own hair, Valerie was known to turn heads when she walked into a room.

 

Valerie was a born again believer. While residing in Los Angeles CA, she was a member of Crenshaw Christian Center under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Fred Price and while residing in Atlanta, GA, was a member of World Changing Ministries under the leadership of  Rev. Dr. Creflo Dollar. 

 

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Rosemary Sport.  She leaves to continue her legacy, the love of her life Tyrome, sons Tyrome-Alexander, and Gabriel- Vernon.  She also leaves to honor her memory mother-in-law, Margaret W. Best; brothers-in-law, Reginald Best (Nickki) and Timothy Hailey; sisters-in-laws Deborah Baker (Gerale), Rev. Eleanor Hailey, Dr. Terri L. Best,  Darlene Best;  and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She will be sincerely missed by her family, friends and thousands of business partners worldwide.

 

A memorial service will be held noon,  Monday, March 8th  at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, guest will be limited, mask must be worn and social distancing will be imposed.
