Mrs. Toya “Poochie” Bernetta Parker Brown was born December 22, 1965, in Hampton, Virginia to the late Geraldine Woodard and David Parker Jr. Poochie was the 3rd of 5 children. She received her education from Hampton Public Schools, graduating from Hampton High in 1985, she attended Norfolk State University, and Kee’s Business school.
Poochie was a devoted wife, mother, aunt and cousin. Poochie loved her husband and her sons, she enjoyed cooking, decorating, doing DIY projects, crafts, hosting family celebrations and gatherings at her home, fishing with hubby, and watching NFL Football and her favorite team the Washington “Redskins” Commanders. Poochie made the best peanut butter bars and better than sex cakes.
Poochie worked for Hampton Public Schools in the cafeteria for years until she became ill. She also worked at Daily Press, Hampton University, and Walmart.
Poochie is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunt, two uncles, cousins, and mother-in-law Mrs. Mary Brown. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Wilbur “Will” Brown of 16 years, her handsome sons Donte and Darrell Parker of Hampton, father in law William Brown of Wakefield, bonus father Melvin Woodard of Maryland, three Aunts Mattie “Sang” Williams, Annie King and Doris Diggs all of Hampton, siblings Debra Parker and David Parker III of Washington, DC, Dawn Walker of Hampton and Danielle Ortiz (Ramon) of Clarksville, TN, brother in laws William Brown of Georgia, Willis Brown and sister in law Fay Brown of Wakefield, her special cousins Carl and Linetta James of Hampton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
It is the desire of the Brown family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
