Terri Anthony affectionately known as “Terri Lynn”, born to James DuBrey and Patricia Ann Brown on May 25, 1961 in Hampton Virginia. was the 3rd sibling of 7, transitioned on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Wonder City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hopewell, Virginia.
She was a long-time resident of Hampton for more than 50 years; residing as a youth in Brooklyn, New York the family moved back to Virginia. Completing her studies here in Hampton, she was the first of her sibling to graduate from Hampton High School in (year) where she met and became the wife of the late Wesley Anthony Sr., later becoming a mother and home maker of four beautiful children; Promise Crocker, Wesley Anthony Jr., Kevin Anthony and Michelle Anthony.
Terri was always the life of the party and loved by many, more so Terri loved the kids, she was known as the silly aunt that would take the kids to park, the pool and anywhere they wanted to go and stay all day, they kids would be wore out (smile). In her quite time, she loved to do crossword puzzles but she was quit the dancer too! when her song came on she would yell out come on girl this my song (smile) “Treat Her Like a Lady” by the Temptations, she loved a good joke and had the loudest laugh (smile).
Terri was also a very strong welled and determined person, when she became ill suffering a stroke in 2015, she was determined not to let it hold her back from being Terri. She was also a fighter and she fought the good fight until the day she was called home to be with God our Father.
She is proceeded in death by her late husband Wesley Anthony Sr., her father James DuBrey; mother Patricia Ann ShaBazz, brothers; Yancy Brown, Tony Woods and grandson; Ralpheal Davis Jr. She leaves to rejoice in her life; daughter; Promise Crocker (Teymour Crocker), son; Wesley Anthony Jr., son; Kevin Anthony and daughter; Michelle Anthony. Sister’s; Patrice Wolfe (Charles Wolfe), Linda DuBrey, Kinyetta DuBrey and Dawn Moses (Robert Moses). Grandchildren; Torel, Jayla, Aaliyah, Mya, Wesley III, Karema, Takayla, Lamar Jr. Takyah and Calie, and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish in her memory; her life partner Steven Gilbert.
Viewing will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
Service for Mrs. Terri Lynn Anthony be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia by Dr. Christopher C. Carter.
Per request of the family interment will be private.
