Mrs. Shirley Tyler

Mrs. Shirley Mae Tyler, at the age of 92 years old peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Hampton Sentara CarePlex Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents the late Grady and Ellaree Hines,  her sister, Ernestine Hines, and beloved husband George A. Tyler.  Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong and faithful member of Union Baptist Church.

Shirley grew up in Newport News, VA where she  graduated from Huntington High School in 1948. On September 5, 1952 she married George A. Tyler, her high school sweetheart and they were blessed with three  children.

Shirley leaves treasured  memories with her two sons, George Rodney Tyler, and Terry Tyler (Brenda); one daughter, Carolyn Michele Tyler Porter (Marvin); two grandsons, Marcus Tyler (Crystal) and Jonathan Tyler; two great grandchildren, Kellan Tyler, and Kendall Tyler; one sister-in-law, Mildred Tyler; two cousins, Francis Lumpkin, and Gwendolyn Harper; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Shirley will be remembered for her sweet spirit and all the love she always showed her family. May the love of God be with her eternally.
