Mrs. Shallima Fladger

Mrs. Shallima N. Fladger  was born in Newport News, VA, January 23,1930 and was the daughter of the late Mr. Charles and Mrs. Susie Pratt.

Shallima attended Newport News Public Schools and graduated from Huntington High School's Class of 1947. She went on to continue her studies at the Nursing School on Hampton Institute's campus. She was the wife of Rev. Samuel J. Fladger, Pastor of Rising Star Christian Church from 1976 until his retirement in 1995. They were married for over 60yrs. Mrs Fladger was Lovingly known as "Gramma Sweetie"

Shallima was preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles and Susie Pratt, her husband Rev. Samuel J. Fladger, her brother, Charles Pratt Jr., two sons, Jonathan Fladger, Ishaq Abdus-Salaam (Burkett) and a granddaughter, Shonda Williams-Scippio.   Additional survivors include, one daughter, Phyliss F. Mayfield (Allen), two sons, Arthur A. Fladger (Kathy), and Reginald L. Fladger (Sharon). Eleven grandchildren, Vernica, Kendra, Khalid, Khadeja, Kristen, Shawntele, Kellen, Justy, Samuel, Alycia and Reanna and a host of greatgrands and great greatgrands and a special friend she will meet in Heaven, Mrs. Vivian Dennis.

Mrs. Fladger lived a long, prosperous and blessed life. We will surely miss her!  Her motto always was when someone asked how are you, she would say "I'm Pressing On".
