Mrs. Sarah Marable Obituary

Mrs. Sarah Marable was born to the late Eva and George Harris on August 4, 1930, and she entered eternal rest on January 27, 2025, and was one of eight children. She devoted 30 years toLangley Air Force Base at the Early Childcare Education Center until her retirement.

With deep love and remembrance, we celebrate the beautiful life of Sarah, a woman of faith, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community.

Sarah was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Hampton, where her faith was the foundation of her life. She found joy in worship, service, and fellowship, always extending kindness and encouragement to those around her. Her steadfast belief in God guided her through every season of life, and she was a beacon of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.

She was also a dedicated member of the Modernettes Civic and Social Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, where she poured her heart into serving others. Through her involvement, she fostered friendships, uplifted those in need, and embodied the true meaning of community. Her warmth, wisdom, and generosity left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Sarah was a loving daughter, mother, and sister. She is remembered and celebrated because her life was filled with love, warmth, and an undeniable sense of style. She had an eye for fashion, effortlessly donning elegant hats and luxurious fur coats, always carrying herself with grace and confidence. Beyond her impeccable style, she had a gift for creating delicious meals that brought people together, filling both plates and hearts with comfort. But don’t get it twisted—behind that sweet smile was a fierce competitor at the bid whist table!

More than anything, she will be remembered for the love and compassion she so freely gave. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and cherished—a rare and beautiful gift. Her kindness knew no bounds and her presence brought light into every room she entered. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit of generosity and warmth will forever remain in our hearts.

Her love was a thread that wove us all together, and in that love, she will always live on.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Marable, Sr.,and her daughter, Lorene Marable-Safavinia. She is survived by one sister Esther Bryant, her children James Marable (Evelyn), Maxine Gibbs, Evelyn Walker (John), Alfred Marable (Michelle), Dorothy Harris (Curtis), Wanda Carrington, Barbara Faison (Ervin Jr), Victor Marable and Matthew Marable Jr. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
