Mrs. Ruth Williams Obituary

Mrs. Ruth Celestine White-Williams, also known as "Little Baker", went home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 8, 2025. Born in Newport News, Virginia to Shemian and Lonniell White.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Williams Sr.; sons, James L. Williams Jr., Ronald B. Williams, Roderick A. Williams, and Michael W. Williams; as well as ten siblings.

Mrs. Williams accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age. She became an active member of Antioch Baptist Church in Newport News. For  many years, she held the position of pianist, mentoring talented musicians and singers in the Hampton Roads area. For generations, she was an active member of the Hampton Roads Ministers' Conference.  Annually her skills and talents could be seen and heard in the choir's guild. One of her greatest joys was travelling to Richmond, Virginia to purchase gospel sheet music.

She is survived by her granddaughter: Mrs. Listrice R. Williams-Belfeld (James); grandson: Mr. Lamont S. Williams; two great-grandchildren, Mr. Larnont S. Williams Jr. and Miss Neveah Williams.

She will be greatly missed. Her musical talents and love for the Lord will forever be heard throughout our lives.

It is the desire of the Williams- Bellfield families that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The family of Mrs. Ruth Williams has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
