Mrs. Queen Victoria Parker-Blount

Mrs. Queen Victoria Parker Blount was born May 22, 1932, to Claude Parker, Sr. and Ethel Parker in Margarettsville, North Carolina. She was the second eldest of their children. Shortly thereafter, the family relocated to Newport News, Virginia.

As an infant, her name was placed on the roll of the United House of Prayer for All People, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and devotion. For more than ninety years, Queen remained steadfast in her commitment to the church she loved.

Every Sunday morning, she attended Sunday School with her siblings. Those mornings often began with a hearty breakfast featuring the family's famous homemade rolls and cheddar cheese—memories she cherished throughout her life.

On July 30, 1949, she was united in holy matrimony with Emmett Samuel Blount, Jr. Later that year, the young couple moved to Mount Vernon, New York, where they were blessed with two children, Dr. Larry Blount and Rosalind Blount. In those years, Queen and her sisters-in-law shared the joys and responsibilities of raising their children together, building a close family bond rooted in love, faith, and unity.

Despite the distance, she traveled regularly from Mount Vernon to Harlem's Mother House of Prayer, serving diligently and with unwavering commitment. As a young adult, she joined the Queen Board during the administration of Daddy Grace. She later served as a Senior Nurse and remained an active member, serving in numerous capacities. Queen devoted approximately thirty years of service to the New York Mother House.

During the administration of Daddy McCollough, he remarked to her husband, Emmett, that he “looked like a preacher and elder.” Soon thereafter, Emmett accepted his call into the ministry, and the family relocated their church membership to the House of Prayer in Jamaica, New York, under the pastorate of Apostle C. Sutton. There, Queen served alongside her husband, Assistant Pastor Elder Blount, and dedicated ten years of service on the Usher Board.

Queen and Elder Blount relocated to Miami, Florida, in 1992, moving their church membership from New York to the Miami House of Prayer. There, they served under the pastorates of Apostle W. Meredith and later Apostle F. Baptist. For the next eleven years, they actively supported the ministry and its members.

During the administration of Daddy Madison, Queen and Elder Blount moved to Avenel, New Jersey, in April 2002 and joined the Piscataway House of Prayer under the pastorate of Elder L. Irvin. Queen continued serving as an usher until declining health limited her attendance. Her dedication, spirit, and commitment never diminished. Her daughter, Rosalind, lovingly ensured that she remained connected to the church.

In April 2021, Queen moved to Jacksonville, Florida, with her daughter Rosalind and son-in-law Brian. She often declared, “I'm going to live to be 100 years old, God willing.” While residing at River City Rehab and Nursing Center, she embraced life with enthusiasm and formed meaningful friendships with people from all walks of life. Throughout her later years, Rosalind and Brian cared for Queen with unwavering love, compassion, and dedication.

Preceded in Death is her beloved husband of 57 years, Emmett Samuel Blount, Jr.; siblings Ethelyn Holmes (Theodore), Helen Marie Dishman (Charles), and Claude Parker, Jr.; brothers-in-law Ernest Branch and Apostle Hubert Swaringer; and siblings and in-laws of her late husband: Sally Noel (Eddie), Doretha King (James), Rosalee Stephenson (Charles), Hilda Johnson (Percel), and Joel Blount (Ellen).

She also leaves to cherish her memory is son Dr. Larry V. Blount (Hazel), daughter Rosalind Jordan (Brian); grandchildren Damon, Emmett, Bryce and Ashley, Grandson-In-Law Ricardo; great-grandchildren Aniken and Kendal.  Also left to cherish her memory are sisters Louise Branch, Flora Mae Swaringer, Gloria Shepard; Sister-In-Law Nga T. Parker (Claude Parker Jr., deceased) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family and friends who will forever cherish her love, wisdom, and enduring legacy of faith.

The family of Mrs. Queen Victoria Parker-Blount has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
