Mrs. Pearlie Mae Brown transitioned peacefully Monday, September 1, 2025 after a brief illness a Sentara Careplex Hospital, Hampton, Virginia
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Garrison, her husband, Earl H. Brown, her son, Earl S. Brown, her sister and brother-in-law, Mary M. Wilson and Jared M. Wilson Sr., and grandson Michael D. Brown. Leaving to cherish her memory are two children, Lavern Borden (Robert) and Paula Brown Jones (Anthony), two grandchildren, Tasia Blowe (Demestrice) and TaShawn Borden (La'sha), 8 great grandchildren and a host of loving friends and relatives.
Pearlie Mae was born on August 14, 1939 in Wilson, North Carolina. After moving to Hampton Roads, Virginia she spent her formative years attending the Hampton City School system graduating from George Phoenix High class of 1957. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church Hampton.
Her professional career was spent at Phillips Seafood (now known as Graham & Rollins) where she was widely known for her infectious spirit and contagious sense of humor as her smile and laughter would light the entire room. To know Pearlie Mae was to love her as she never met anyone who wasn't a friend.
As the matriarch of the family Pearlie Mae really enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family, as well as being an avid sports fan often indulging in NFL football games and NBA basketball games cheering on her favorite teams.
It is the desire of the Brown family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
The family of Mrs. Pearlie Mae Brown has entrusted her final care to C. C. Carter Funeral Home.
