Mrs. Patricia S. Brown (Pat) was a native of James City County and a long-time resident of Hampton, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Floyd Shepperd, her husband James H. Brown; eight siblings and one daughter, Karen Shepperd.
Pat was employed at the Virginia School for the Death, Blind and Multidisabled as a teacher of the blind for 44 years. After the school was closed, Patricia volunteered to help many groups that offered services to the disabled community. Pat was a member and president of the Peninsula Council of the Blind, member of the Hampton Mayor’s committee for people with disabilities, Board Member of the Peninsula Center for Independent Living and the Virginia Association of Workers for the Blind, a member of the Phoebus Lions Club, Sunday School and Youth church teacher at New Grafton Baptist church.
Pat is survived by her son, David M. Brown (Merita), one sister, Julia Redell McClester of Hinesville, Ga, two grandsons, Davion and Mysean Brown and one granddaughter, Madison Gatling; and a host of nieces and nephews.
