Mrs. Millie Ann Boone

Mrs. Millie “Ann” Morant Boone, age 74, was called from labor to reward on Good Friday, April 2, 2021 at Hampton Sentara CarePlex.

Millie Boone, affectionately known as “Ann”, was born November 8, 1946, in Newport News, Virginia to the late James and Vermell Morant. She attended Newport News Public School System, graduating from Huntington High School in 1965. In 1969, Millie was among a select few African American women chosen for The Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) Clerical Training Program, which was in partnership with NASA Langley Research Center. After completion of the program, NASA hired Millie as a Clerical Trainee. She was very instrumental in mentoring and training several employees and had such a positive impact over the entire personnel division. Over the years, she received numerous awards and accolades and was later advanced to Training Specialist. In 2004, she retired after 35 years of service. 

Millie loved the Lord, her family, and all that she encountered. She was a member of Bethel AME Church Hampton, Virginia for over 20 years and she served as Class Leader. She loved to joke, laugh, and had a heart of giving.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Vermell Morant; three sisters, Estell Carter Williams, Margaret Croom “Delia”, and Mary Virginia “Sparrow” Moore; one brother Oscar Moore; one sister in law; Ida McNair.

Millie leaves to cherish husband of 52 years Willie Boone; two daughters, Monica Lee and Jametta Morant Boone; one granddaughter Zomara Lee; two sisters, Dorothy Boddie (Millard) and Jametta Lynn Edwards (Nathan); one brother, Darryl Morant;

A walk through viewing for Mrs. Boone will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.

Services for Mrs. Boone will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia, 23666  by Pastor Andre Jefferson.

Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
