Mrs. Mildred Annette Weaver was born in Hampton, Virginia on September 16, 1955, to the late Earnest Vassie Chamblee and Bernice Slade Chamblee. and transitioned Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Newport News, VA. Mildred was the youngest child out of the union. Being the baby girl Annette was spunky and outgoing but, family oriented.
Mrs. Weaver spent her childhood in Hinesville, Georgia and was raised by her second set of parents Willie and Barbara Collins. Her favorite hobbies as a child involved dressing up and getting pretty but, she still embraced her inner tomboy. During her high school years played on the Girls’ Varsity basketball team. Annette was popular in high school and known for being a great dresser. Annette was voted best dressed girl during her senior year by her classmates at Bradwell Institute which she graduated from in 1974. Following high school, she went on to further her education at Georgia Tech, where she earned an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
Annette moved back to Virginia and started working with ceramic electronic capacitors at Maida in the 80’s. Eventually she would leave Maida to go on and build computers at Gateway Inc. She would later rediscover her love for education and worked as a teacher at the Virginia Deaf and Blind school in Hampton. Annette had a fluency in sign language and became a great advocate for the mental health field. Annette spent almost fifteen years as a lead Preschool teacher. Annette taught preschool aged children at Calvary and New life Church in Hampton.
Annette was preceded in death by her brothers Milton Chamblee, of Hampton, VA, Vernon Chamblee Chester Chamblee, a sister Barbara Collins, and her parents Earnest Vassie Chamblee and Bernice Slade Chamblee. Annette is an inspiration and a radiant light that will shine within our hearts forever.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband Michael Weaver; daughter Mica Chante Weaver; siblings Vassie Chamblee of Middletown, CT, Donald Chamblee of Woonsocket, R.I., Alma Wright of Hampton, VA, Linda Jackson of Williamsburg, VA, Yvonne Montrond, of Coventry, R.I., and Larry Shields of Hampton VA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Remember her kind words and strong actions of leadership. Her favorite sayings were “Be a Leader not a Follower” and “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time”. Annette was an excellent mother who set the bar for motherhood. She was a loving wife who adored her husband and family.
Viewing for Mrs. Weaver will be held Friday, December 4, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Services for Mrs. Weaver will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church 1415 Big Bethel Road with Pastor Solomon Wooten, Senior Pastor of Goodwill Baptist Church Hampton, VA.
