Mrs. Michelle Morgan Price Obituary

In Loving Memory of Michelle Renea Morgan Price: With profound sadness we announce that Michelle Renea Morgan Price, 56, entered her eternal rest on Friday, February 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Johnson Morgan, her maternal grandparents, Deacon Freddie Johnson and Deaconess Geneva Johnson, and her paternal grandparents, Macon and Ariel Morgan.

Born on September 16,1968, Michelle was raised in Newport News, Virginia, and accepted Christ at an early age. Her unwavering faith was nurtured at First Baptist Denbigh, where she developed the "Mary heart" that guided her throughout life. She was educated in Newport News Public Schools and graduated from Menchville High School in 1986. Her passion for storytelling and connection led her to Howard University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications.

Michelle's career began at The United Way, followed by the Daily Press, where she honed her skills as a communicator and writer for accuracy and truth in the written word. In 1997, she joined Newport News Public Schools as the Coordinator of Community Relations. She was promoted to Director and, most recently, to Executive Director of Public Information and Community Involvement, a role that became her true calling. With a "Martha spirit" of service, she dedicated herself to uplifting the community—sharing words of celebration in moments of joy and offering comfort during times of sorrow. Her work was more than a profession; it was a ministry of compassion, bringing light to those she served. She was known as the “Voice of NNPS” and was the “go-to person” for guidance and direction for her colleagues. A few of her treasured events included community days, Teacher of the Year, Exemplary Support Staff of the Year, 40 Rocks!, and staff convocations.

On August 4, 2007, Michelle married the love of her life, Ray Price, and together, they built a home filled with faith, love, laughter, and unwavering support. Her greatest joy was the birth of her son, Elijah, whom she adored beyond measure. Michelle had an incredible gift for creating warmth and beauty, a talent she poured into every detail of the many celebrations and events she planned. Her skill and creativity made every event memorable. Through decor or heartfelt gestures, her special touch reflected her deep love for her family and friends. Michelle never met a stranger and went above and beyond to make certain that everyone she encountered felt welcome and valued.

Michelle was a member of First Baptist Church of Denbigh in Newport News. She held membership in the Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG), an honor society for women educators, since 2021 and served as editor of the Omicron Chapter newsletter since 2021. Michelle was a member of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), as well as it’s Chesapeake Chapter (CHESPRA). She was a member of the NNPS Executive Leadership Team and was the school division’s Deputy Clerk of the Board and Freedom of Information Act Officer. Michelle served as an instructor with the NNPS Clerical Apprenticeship Program. She was a recipient of the NNPS Power of One Award and numerous awards for school communicators from NSPRA and CHESPRA. In the community, Michelle served on the Virginia Living Museum Board of Trustees, worked with Girls Inc., and participated in the annual Bra-ha-ha event.

Michelle leaves behind a legacy of love and service, cherished by her devoted husband, Ray Anthony Price; her beloved son, Elijah McKinley Price; and her bonus children, Samuel Ray Price, RaJeana Lynn Price, and Michael Terrell Price (Jasmine Christine). She was a proud grandmother to Michael Anthony Price, Sophia Renee Price, and Gabriel Ray Price. She is also survived by her loving father, William McKinley “Bossman” Morgan, along with her Godchildren Macon Beau Morgan and Ariel Victoria Morgan (Kirk) and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Michelle’s life was a testament to faith, love, and dedication. She touched the lives of so many, and though she will be deeply missed, her light will continue to shine through those she loved.

A Christian wake with reflections will be held on Friday, February 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 171 Semple Farm Road, Hampton, Virginia. A private homegoing service by Rev.
