Mrs. Marian Brown, 72 entered her celestial eternal portal on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Sentera CarePlex Hospital, Hampton, VA. Marian was born December 28, 1947 in Newport News, VA., where she attended Carver High School. Marian retired from Riverside Regional Medical center with over 30 years in the Human Relations Department as a Service Specialist.
Marian was a devoted member of Faith Deliverance Baptist Church, in Newport News, VA, under the pastorship of Bishop Bennie L. Kingwood, Sr. Marian served on the Nursing Home Ministry as well as assisting the church in various outreach programs for the community. Marian demonstrated impeccable leadership skills, ministry counseling and assisting with helping senior citizens. Marian was a very stylish and fashionable person, she was considered a "Diva" by many. Marian was known for being a hugger to all and she called everyone "Sweetie". She loved being a "Child Of God" and she provided spiritual guidance from her heart and soul. Marian had an unconditional relationship and love for her sister, Willie Mae Joyner.
Marian was preceded in death by her late mother, Eva Butler and her father, Rev. Willie Walter Butler, Sr., sisters Lena Smith & Alice Ruffin and brother Willie Butler, Jr. Marian leaves to cherish, her beloved sister, Willie Mae Joyner, three devoted sons, Rodney Butler (Gardinia) of Newport News, VA., Eric Lassiter, of Fayetteville, NC., and Keane Butts (Tequietta) of Woodbrige, VA., five loving grandchildren: Shakia Sessoms, Carrington Holmes, Kareem Riddick, Ciara Butler and Gabriella Butts, two adorable great grandchildren, Sean Hart and Jaxon White, one beautiful and devoted niece, Catrina Joyner and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing for Mrs. Brown will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
Services for Mrs. Brown are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Virginia 23666. Mask are required to attend the viewing and funeral service and social distancing will be enforced. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
