Mrs. Lillian “Darlene” Mizell Scott departed this life on June 10, 2018, at Riverside Speciality Select Hospital, and entered into eternal rest.
Darlene was born August 28, 1946, in Northampton County, North Carolina to the late Roosevelt Mizell and Mary Flythe, the oldest of four daughters.
Darlene attended school in Northampton County, graduating from Willis Hare High School, Pendleton, North Carolina in 1964. She ‘s a member of Zoar Missionary Baptist Church, Pendleton, North Carolina. Later moving to Newport News, VA where she attended Community College studying Medical Terminology.
Darlene was united in marriage to Floyd W. Watson after graduating high school. Later marrying Henry L. Scott both preceded her in death, also three siblings Othavelt M. Mizell, Ben H. Mizell, and Rosa M. Moore.
Darlene worked for numerous years at Wellworth Cleaners and Blowes Cleaners in Newport News, Va, later employed in the Rouse Towers in the Cafeteria.
She was an avid lover for her grand and great kids, as well as her Ginger Ale Sodas. To know her was to love her definitely if you wanted that friend who would tell you just how she feels.
Darlene leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: two daughters, Darlene Nita Watson, Toya Anjeanette Watson of Newport News, VA; one brother, James (Margaret) Mizell of Hampton, VA; two sisters, Sylvia (Kenneth) Wood of Hampton, VA, Shirley Toney of Spring Hope, NC; eight grandchildren, Natashia, Tempest, Tyrell, Abeni, Akila, Breonia, Sumintra, and Indira; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services for Mrs. Scott will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church 1415 Big Bethel Rd, Hampton, VA. by Dr. Christopher C. Carter Sr..
Interment will be held at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Suffolk, VA.
Viewing for Mrs. Scott will e held from noon until 6:00p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at C.C.Carter Funeral Home Inc.
