Julia Rematha Worelds Yelverton, affectionally known as "Pig", was born on June 18, 1934 in Wilson County, NC. She was born to the late Missie Braswell and Eddie Roy Worelds.
Julia was proceeded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, CSM William H Yelverton, 6 of her siblings: Zedekiah Worelds (Lizzie), Darlene Adams (Bill), Dossie Washington (Joseph), Edward Worelds (Ernestine), Janice Hinnant (Ivory), James Worelds (Gloria Jean), 1 child: Althea Yelverton, and 1 grandson: Zedric Daniels.
Left to cherish her memories are: her only Aunt, Minnie Mathis "Sis" in NY, 4 surviving siblings: Sallie Hines in MD, Viola Randolph (Ross) in NJ, Jasper Worelds (Carrie) in NY, and Boris Lipscomb (Che) of VA. Her family circle extends to include the Powell and Artis families.
Also blessed to share her presence are: 5 Children: Morris Worelds of Wilson, Doris James-Taylor (James deceased) of Richmond, VA, Jarvis Worelds (Dorothy Daniels) of Newport News, VA, Linda Cowell (Clayton) of Hampton, VA, and William J Yelverton, ll, (Barbara) of Youngstown, OH, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
But Julia's love was never limited by blood, she fully embraced others as her own, including Mary "Pumpkin" Johnson, Ruby Barnes Williams, Dorothy Daniels, Francis & Danny Banks.
Julia was the beloved grandmother of 20, great-grandmother of 26, and newly great-great-grandmother to 1.
Julia was a member of the United Church of God with the Pastor Kevin Wilson of Hampton, VA. Julia enjoyed sewing (4th generation), cooking, traveling, playing cards, and caring for others as she did for many years working at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro, NC.
Julia's life was defined by her love for family, her strength, and her enduring generosity.
We celebrate the legacy she leaves behind and the countless lives she's touched! As Matriarch of this family, 91 yrs the Lord has blessed us, and for this God, we are truly grateful!
