Mrs. Jacqueline Sanders Obituary

Mrs. Jacqueline Ann Sanders affectionately known as “Jackie” to many, was born on March 19, 1946 in Waukegan, Illinois and transitioned on April 11, 2022. Jackie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin went home to be with the Lord after battling with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Emmit Thompson, a grandson Stephan Baldwin and a son James Otis Baldwin, all of Chicago, Illinois.

She accepted Christ at the age of 12 at Trinity A.M.E. Church in Waukegan, Illinois. After High School, she graduated nursing school in 1956 and worked as a LPN for 15 years. Jackie later got a position at the V.A. Medical Center in the E.E.N.T (eyes, ears, nose, & throat) clinic as an ophthalmology technician, where she served for 20 years.

On March 19, 1970, she married her husband Reverend Otis Sanders who was a great change in her life. Her husband was a Senior Chief of the United States Navy. Throughout the years they traveled leaving friends and family in the beginning of his career. Jackie’s hobbies include making baskets to give away to the sick and shut in, missionary work and cooking.

The Lord opened a door on April 11, 1976 and she joined New Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Raymond Franklin. In 1984 the leadership was transitional to Dr. W. Randolph Rylander. She was active on the Diaconate Board, Pastor’s Aide, Missionary Ministry and the Young At Heart Ministry.

Jacqueline A. Sanders leaves to cherish fond memories her devoted husband of 52 years, Rev. Otis Sanders, four brothers, Larry Thompson, Timothy Thompson, Leon Thompson (Janet), Eddie Thompson, all of Illinois, one daughter, Onita R. Sanders, one son, Joseph E. Sanders, 3 granddaughters, Ikasia, Tinasia and Jolisa, two extended grandsons, Michael and Aaron, all of Hampton, Virginia, three aunts, Annie Adams of North Chicago, Anita Thompson of Chicago, Illinois, Corrie Adams of Cleveland, Ohio, a special niece, Laniska Thompson, and a football team of nephews, cousins, friends and New Mount Olive Baptist Church family.

 

It is the desire of the Sanders family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
