Mrs. Harriet Patterson Obituary

In Loving Memory of Harriet Dean Patterson

Harriet Dean Patterson, affectionately known as "Dean" by her family, was born on January 12, 1940, in Cross, South Carolina, and peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 8, 2026, at the age of 86.

Harriet was a gentle, kind, and humble woman whose quiet strength, unwavering faith, and compassionate heart touched the lives of everyone she met. Her gentle spirit and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

For more than 40 years, Harriet faithfully served as the manager of A Child's Day Learning Center, where she devoted her life to caring for and nurturing generations of children. Her patience, compassion, and dedication left a lasting impact on countless families and reflected the servant's heart she carried throughout her life.

Nothing brought Harriet greater joy than her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, and sisters. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply enjoying one another's company, those moments meant the world to her. She also found happiness in life's simple pleasures, especially her favorite sweets. And if you knew Dean, you knew she never turned down a good bowl of ice cream.

During her later years, Harriet was lovingly cared for by her son, Michael, whose faithful devotion and compassionate care were a beautiful expression of his deep love for his mother.

Though soft-spoken by nature, Harriet's legacy is one of love, faith, kindness, and selfless service. The lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Harriet J. Small and Willie D. Small; her siblings, Bertha L. Hairston, Willie E. Small, and Leroy R. Small; and her beloved grandson, Marcel Victor Patterson, whom she adored.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted sons, Michael Patterson of Hampton, Virginia, and Herbert Patterson (Gail) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; her loving siblings, Mary William of Orlando, Florida, Diane Richardson of Roanoke, Virginia, Benjamin Small of Bland, Virginia, and Shelia Bryant (Norman) of Hampton, Virginia; her cherished grandchildren, Shanae Patterson and Nicole Patterson; her beloved great-grandchildren, Sebastian Fleming, Johanna Wilkins, Alani Marshall, and Zhuri Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though Harriet's physical presence will be deeply missed, her love, kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord, where there is no more pain, only perfect peace.

It is the desire of the Patterson family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
