Mrs. Gloria Mae Eley, 76, 

On Monday June 15, 2020, Gloria M. Eley departed this earthy life for eternal rest and peace with the Lord. Gloria, the daughter of the late Matthew and Virginia Parker in Surry, Virginia, was born on February 8, 1944.

 

Gloria was a product of the Dendron, Virginia school system and attended L.P. Jackson School. In her youth, Gloria was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church of Surry, Virginia. She was employed by Motorhouse Lodge for 10 years and then became an employee of the Gwaltney of Smithfield Packing Plant. Then later in life, she was employed by Benay-Albee for several years.

 

Gloria had a joyful life with a contagious laugh. She was a loving and caring person. She was a giving person and would help anyone in need. She was very outspoken and did not mind telling you her thoughts. She was an affectionate mother and grandmother who cherished her family.

 

Gloria was preceded in death by two sisters; Corrine Bailey of New York, New York and Sarah Jean Parker-Jones of Surry, Virginia. Her precious memories will always be cherished by her two sons; Henry Eley (Erika) and Angelo Eley (Vanessa) both of Newport News Virginia, one sister, Madlyn Charity (Larry) of Newport News, Virginia, six grandchildren; Tiffany Williams, JaLissa Scott, William Solomon, Jonathan Solomon and Jordan Eley, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and family members.

 

Viewing for Mrs. Eley will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Living Waters Redeemed Apostolic Church Of Christ, 617 48th Street, Newport News, Virginia, 23067.

 

Services for Mrs. Eley will be held immediately follow the viewing at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 by Bishop Eric Jackson. 

 

It is the desire of the Eley family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
