Mrs. Gertrude Perez Obituary

Mother Gertrude "Delores" Perez went home to be with the Lord on July 6,2026 at the age of 92 after a short but speedy battle with Dementia. Delores was born on August 5, 1933 to the late Samuel and Evelyn Vinson in Hampton, Virginia. Delores received her education in the Hampton City School System where she graduated from George P. Phoenix High School.

Delores was always a very hard worker who would do anything for her family. Delores worked for many years as a crab picker for Amory Seafood in downtown Hampton. Delores later started working at Phillips Seafood Market which later on was sold and renamed to Grahams and Rollins. Delores worked along side her dear friend the late Pearlie Mae Brown until her health started to decline and she retired in 2005 at 71 years old. Delores also worked as an housekeeper to help support her family. In her earlier years Delores helped to raise various different family members.

Delores was an longtime member of Gray's Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized under the late Reverend Royal C. Wesley Sr.. After years of service to Gray's Missionary Delores and her friend the late Mattie Allen left and later joined West End Baptist Church under the leadership of late Reverend James Gray. Delores served on many boards at both churches.

Delores was a devoted church mother, deaconess and missionary. Delores used to love talking on the phone for hours, cooking(those Hush Puppies were the best), baking delicious desserts, spending time with her family and at church. Delores would never let you be houseless or hungry when she was around.

Delores met Ramon "Joe" Perez while working at the Seafood Market. Delores and Joe were married for over 36 years before his passing in 1994.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Evelyn Vinson, husband Ramon "Joe" Perez, sister Pearl Ward (William), brother in law George Hill, son in law Ellis Lamons and daughter in law Sharon Perez.

She leaves to cherish her memory her 4 children Thomas Payne(Roben), Diane Thomas Lamons, Raymond Perez Sr, and Fidel Perez(Jozette); 13 grandchildren Lorenzo Tuck(Chatawna), Lionel Thomas Jr.(Amber), Crystal Thomas(Carlton), Raymond Perez Jr., Allena Moody(Norris), Angelica Martin(Miles), Shayla Callis(Joseph), David Perez, Jalanda Lamons, Kanye Pride, Diamond Pride, Terzetta and Lazetta; 22 great grandchildren Malachi, Rakym, Ayana, Aloni, Norris, Anora, Isla, Leia, Rahmir, Miles, Malik, Gianni, Olivia, Loren, A'mora, Legend, Cevyn, A'mora, Mauricio, Akari and Jayceon; 1 great great grandchild Karter; her sister Marion Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
