Mrs. Eula Belle Williamson left us on October 15, 2018 with her daughter Margie and granddaughter Keiara by her side at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA.
Eula was born on October 2, 1930 in Stewart County, Georgia to the late Powell and Mrs. Willie Patterson. She graduated from Radcliff High School in Columbus, Georgia in 1947. She met and married SFC James E. Williamson Jr. in November 1960 in Russell County, Alabama. Mrs. Williamson took the role of being a mother and homemaker while her husband pursued a career with the military. After traveling with her husband to various military installations in the state and aboard (Iran), Mrs. Williamson moved to Newport News, Virginia with her husband upon his retirement from the Army.
Mrs. Williamson was employed at Patrick Henry Nursing Facility where she worked as a Geriatric Certified Nursing Assistant until her retirement.She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Newport News, Virginia where she served faithfully on the Missionary Board.Her interests included family, watching football games, and wrestling matches on t.v. with her buddy Betty (Neicy) Jefferson. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members.
Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, a sister, mother, father and son.Eula is survived by her daughter, Marguerite (Margie) Edmonds; daughter/granddaughter Gay L. Williamson, Newport News, VA; granddaughter Vanita Overby of Yorktown, VA; great grandchildren Keiara Williamson-Brown and Darcel Peterson ll; great- great grandchildren Kaiden, Ma'Kaih and Ma'ryah of Newport News, Virginia. She will also be missed by a host of relatives out of state. Eula spent her last remaining months with Gay.
Services for Mrs. Eula Williamson will be held 12:00pm. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home 3314 Roanoke Ave. Newport News, VA. by Dr. Christopher C. Carter Sr.
Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetary , Suffolk, VA.
