Mrs. Eloise Collins
Obituary
Mrs. Eloise Jernigan Collins was called to her heavenly home on March 16, 2023. She was one of nine children born and raised in Ahoskie, North Carolina. For more than 40 years, Eloise was a dedicated member of Six Mount Zion Baptist Temple in Hampton (Va.). On Sundays, Eloise could be found wearing a sassy, stylish church hat, smiling to the sky and singing from her soul, filled with the Holy Spirit. Eloise loved traveling with her family, shopping with dear friends and critiquing chefs at every restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gurley Jernigan, her mother, Linda Jernigan, and her husband Joseph Bradshaw Collins.
Left to cherish her memory are their three children, Sandra Corbin, Kenneth Collins, and Sharon Block (Donnie); three grandchildren, Jeffrey Corbin II, Keri Corbin, and Jacqueline Mazique Harley; her great-grandson Darien Harley; her church family and friends. Eloise was affectionately known as ‘Mama Lou’ and ‘Gran-nee’ and will be missed by her loving family and all those who knew her.
