On Saturday October 31, 2020, Ellouise Hanton entered into eternal rest in Hampton, VA after an extended illness. She was born on February 2, 1938 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina to the union of Robert and Lessie Johnson.
She was educated in the Orangeburg County school system. She moved to Norwalk, Connecticut in 1963. Later, she moved to Hampton, VA in 1988. Ellouise worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Connecticut and Virginia until her retirement. She was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church, Hampton, VA where she served faithfully as a member of the Senior Usher Board until her health failed.
She is survived by four daughters, Geraldine Johnson, Hampton, VA; Betty J. Keitt (Harry),Norwalk, CT; Patricia A. Hanton, Hampton, VA; Deborah A. Hanton, Wilton, CT; one brother, Joe L. Johnson, of Vance, SC; one special sister Joycia (Ezzell) Shular; one sister in-law, Rose Johnson, Ladson, SC; two grandsons, Kywan Fisher, Hampton, VA and Terrence D. Hanton, New York, NY, and one granddaughter, Ebonie S. Hanton, Norwalk, CT.; two great-grandchildren, Derek R. Fisher and Aaliyah M. Campbell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Graveside services for Mrs. Hanton will be held at 11:00a.m.a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Dantzler Cemetery, Mt. Olive Rd. Santee, with Rev. Lonnie J. Robinson officiating. Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions at the graveside.
