August 10, 1929 ~ November 2, 2020 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Mrs. Ella Hopson Obituary

Mrs. Ella Mae Hopson was 91 years-old and received her wings on Monday November 2, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Joe and Francis Holley, one sister Bertha Dickerson, five brothers, Mike Holley, Joe Holley, William Holley, George Holley, and Ennus Holly.

 

​She was one of eleven kids born in Chowan County, North Carolina and raised in Drivers, Virginia. Ella lived in New York but retired to Hampton, Virginia.

 

​A loyal and faithful member of West End Baptist Church. She served as a missionary worker and sang in a choir and she was the oldest mother. Her favorite song was “I Want Jesus to Walk with Me.” She always prayed for the sick and visited. 

 

​Ella had great love for her family and family had great love for her. She was known for her fashion and hats and loved to take pictures. Ella worked as a bus attendant for the Hampton Public School.

 

Mrs.  Hopson leaves to cherish her memories one brother, James Holley, Portsmouth, VA, three sisters, Linel Lassiter, Newport News, VA, Ethel Harrell (Harry), Corapeake, North Carolina,  and Annie Mae Freeman, Chesapeake, VA,  twenty-three nieces, eleven nephews, forty-three great nieces, thirty-eight great nephews, a host of great, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.

 

What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of Us!

Viewing for Mrs. Hopson will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.

 

Services for Mrs. Hopson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1415 Big Bethel Road, Hampton.VA  by Elder Sharon Smith.

 

Entombment will take place following the service at Hampton Memorial Gardens.

 

It is the desire of the Hopson family that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
