Dorothy Louise Alston (Phillips) was born on February 2, 1941 to Theodore Phillips and Flossie Mae Peters in Greenville, NC being one of three children. Dorothy passed away at home on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in Hampton, VA.
Dorothy was educated in the Greenville, NC public school system. She moved to the District of Columbia in 1962 and later married Jesse Lewis Alston on February 26, 1992. Dorothy worked at Sibley Hospital for 33 years until she retired. She moved to Hampton, VA in 2005. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and completing word find puzzles.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her son, George G. Phillips, and brother, Richard Phillips.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Jesse Lewis Alston, daughter Maggie E. Phillips, stepdaughter Ennis N. Allen, brother Vance Phillips and Sister-in-Law Geraldine Phillips, four grandsons, Charles Phillips, Kenneth Phillips, Bryin Phillips, and Aaron Phillips, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Dorothy is also survived by her dearest friends: Naomi Honeycutt, James Whitehead, and Charles Donald.
A walk through viewing for Mrs. Alston, will be held from 1:00p.m. until 5:00p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
A graveside service for Mrs. Alston will be held 11:00a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Albert G. Horton Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Suffolk, VA.by. Rev. Harvey Cook.
